The democratic reforms conducted in the country over the past few years encouraged the development in all spheres, as well as in stomatology.
The foundation of the Azerbaijan Stomatological Association in 1997 and its circle of activity as a professional unity are obvious cases for it.
The ASA entered the Federal Dental Institution (FDI) in a short period of time. In 2003 it was elected the member of the European Regional Organization (ERO) of FDI.
The Azerbaijan Stomatological Association issued its regular “Caucasian Dental News” magazine and it passed state registration. The magazine plays exceptional role in dissemination of current achievements of stomatology and medicine as a whole and in extension of relations with foreign partners and exchange of views.
The ASA conducts great works on application and implementation of achievements of developed counties and leading companies of the world on stomatology in our country.
For the purpose of preventing dental diseases that have widely spread among people, the ASA conducts Educational program with the help of “Procter & Gamble” and now “Colgate & Palmolive” companies on mouth cavity care and the importance of toothpastes with fluorine in hygiene of mouth cavity among pupils of 7-8 years old. The Educational Program involved about 300.000 children from different towns of the Republic. This program is being continued now.
For the purposes of extending stomatologists’ standards of knowledge the ASA has held scientific-practical conferences with participation of specialists from the famous companies and clinics of the world on urgent problems of stomatology such as, new methods in root canal treatment, the selection of modern dental devices, the design of dental clinic, the complex treatment of parodontal diseases, new achievements of orthodontia, surgical and orthopedic basis of implantation etc. Hundreds of stomatologists attended these conferences and extended their knowledge.
The Azerbaijan Stomatological Association maintains close relations with dental associations of the CIS, ERO and FDI or their member-states. The ASA representatives are invited to all annual congresses and symposiums that are held by these professional associations and take part in them.
